Visit to D.C.

We went to visit Grandmom and Grandad in D.C. and we had a wonderful time!! There are great parks all over the place, and the kids had a blast playing at them.
Drew and Grandad took the kids to the National Zoo one day. They had a lot of fun there!

While they were at the zoo, Grandmom and I visited the Hillwood House. I just love going to see all the old homes and learning the history behind them. This house did not disappoint!

I also got to spend one day shopping in Georgetown and Friendship Heights ALL BY MYSELF!!! Whoo hooo!!

Race Track Daddy

Hudson is really into playing with his cars these days. And, if you sit too still--YOU become the racetrack!

Say What?

Here are a few cute things that the kids are saying these days. I know if I don't write them down, I won't remember them.
Hudson:
*His yes is "yesh" and imagine wide eyes and a nodding head to go with it.:)

*It's hysterical when he's excited and says, "Wooo hoo!" with a fist pump in the air to go with it!

*"Gay-kin" is the way that Hudson says Gracyn. She was NOT a fan of it at first and was so mad that he wasn't calling her the right name. He is the only one allowed to call her that by the way--we cannot!!

*I guess since we say, "Yay Hudson!" when he does something good, he'll say, "Yay me!" to let us know of his accomplishments. It's so cute! His voice also goes up a couple of octaves when he's excited.

*It was dark outside and he looked out the window and said, "Spooky!" I'm not sure where he comes up with these things!

*We were eating at Whataburger the other day and Hudson started saying letters--I looked over to where he was looking and he was spelling out the word "B-E-E-F" from the letters on the window that were backwards. My mom and I both looked at each other shocked! He knows all his letters--and I'm not sure where he picked that up, because sadly, as the second child, I'm not working with him as crazily as I did with his sister! I'm sure I owe it all to the ipad!
*Whenever I hear him say, "I did it!", "Look at that!", "I do it!" (I'm hearing this one more and more everyday!!), I'm a bit shocked that my baby is speaking in complete sentences! Truth be told, Gracyn is sometimes my interpreter...but he's really becoming quite the chatterbox these days--and a little echo!

*If he doesn't like something, he'll say "Dike-it" with a crinkled up nose and shake his head.

*Two things I hear a lot are: "Gaykin not ni! (nice) and "Gaykin hit meh!" Gotta love it!:)

Gracyn:
*It's hilarious when I hear her yell, "I'm okay!" and I never even knew that she could have potentially been hurt. I hear it coming from the playroom upstairs all.day.long and it cracks me up every time!

*"I'm so exciting!" is what Gracyn says when she's excited about something.

*If you're doing something that she doesn't like, she'll say, "You can't do that all the day!" She gets "all the time" and "everyday" confused and just puts the two of them together. Love it!

*She gets windmill and pinwheels mixed up and combines them to call it a "wind pin." She also calls acorns, "egg nuts." Not sure where she got that one?! I know the little ways that she says things will all be corrected on her own too soon--so I cherish each time I hear it!

*"That's cool!" and "I can handle it." are two phrases that I never thought I'd hear my 3 year old say--and in the right context! She cracks me up!

*Gracyn has really become scared of the dark all of a sudden. It never used to bother her before and now she wants to sleep with almost every light in her room on and won't walk into a room if it's dark. The other night she needed to go back into her room to get her blanket and the light was off. Before I went downstairs, I watched her pause right before she went in and heard her say to herself, "You can do it!" as she stepped in and immediately flipped on her light. It was such a precious moment!!

*This little girl LOVES to color. There was an invisible line that went right down the middle of this page, and you better believe that she let me know when I crossed it! I love this little girlie to pieces!!

Horsing Around

We got to go check out Uncle Hunter's barn and see and ride the horses.
Doesn't Gracyn look thrilled to get on Rojo?
We did get a smile out of her, but she wanted off pretty quickly.
Hudson was a little easier to convince to get on.

Aunt Laurie had fun sitting with the kids.

Park

There was a fun little park across the street from the hotel that we stopped at one evening. The kids really enjoyed running around and checking everything out.
My brown-eyed girl!
They loved getting on the old caboose and looking around.
Sweet brother and sister--love them so!!
Look at me!
Daddy and Hudson on the cow.
They were really trying to figure out how all this old farm equipment worked.

My Little Fishies

One of the highlights of each day was getting to swim in the hotel pool. Gracyn has turned into a little fish over the summer...and Huddy isn't too far behind! I think the puddle jumper floatie was one of the best inventions EVER! Hudson doesn't mind it one bit and it keeps him safe and afloat!
Hudson is a stealth shooter. He keeps his water shooter underwater until the time is right and he'll blast you right in the face! He thinks he's pretty funny-I don't!
Looks like he's having fun!
This little girl LOVES her goggles!
Gracyn is getting really good at floating on her back.
Swimming like a pro! We still have to keep a very close eye on her. Her confidence exceeds her ability at this point. :)
Trouble-maker! ;) Looking for his next victim!
They both love to jump into the pool.
Daddy is out-numbered and unarmed!
So proud of herself--shooting water at Daddy is hilarious!
