Goodness, this real school gig sure is an adjustment! I mean, I was used to getting up at 7am and having until 9:00 to get the kids ready and to school--two days a week. Now, I'm up at 6:15 and have to have Gracyn all ready to catch the bus by 6:50! Every.single.day!!! We're ALL exhausted and trying to get used to our new "normal." I will say that I am SO productive in the mornings now. I get so much done since I'm up and around so much earlier. I'm also sleeping really good at night too since I'm SO productive ALL day! Speaking of sleeping, this little guy is having a hard time getting his naps in these days. I look back and see this often now. I feel the same way, Buddy--I miss nap time too!!

So, Gracyn decided that she wanted to try riding the bus to school. The stop is just a few houses down the street and it comes about 10-15 minutes earlier than I'd take her. Her stop is the last one. We thought we'd give it a try. And...she's a FAN!! Hudson tried to get on the first day to "take a look inside." Ha! Turns out, one of her new best little friends from her class lives down the street and rides the bus too. They were SO excited!! They're already planning play dates! :) It's so sweet, she saves Gracyn a seat every morning.

I'll admit, I cried when she got on and the bus pulled away. She's just a baby--well, to me anyways! I forgot to tell her where to go when the bus got to school since it would be a different place than I dropped her off. She said she was a little nervous about that, but realized she'd just follow everyone else and they'd show her where to go. I was so proud of her for thinking of that--but a little sad too because she figured it out on her own and didn't need me. :( My baby is growing up!!! The best part about the bus is all the time I save. Hudson and I go run about 4-5 miles and we're home before we would be if I'd taken her. It's a win/win all around!
This guy likes all the extra time we have in the mornings and gets his bike rides in.
Spirit day! They wear their spirit shirts every Friday. GO LIONS!!
I had chocolate chip cookies waiting for her when she got home from school one day--isn't that what I'm supposed to do? :)

So, at Kinder Round-Up back in the spring, we got a tour of the cafeteria and the lunch line--and Gracyn decided then and there that she would be bringing her lunch every day and did NOT want to buy her lunch from school. I told her that was fine with me. We packed her lunch on the first day of school. When she came home that afternoon, she asked me where her wallet was. I asked her why, and she asked how much lunch costs because she wanted to buy her lunch. I said it was $2.05 and she was certain that she had enough in her wallet to buy it. I told her that we'd put money in her account and she wouldn't have to use her money to buy lunch--and then I had to explain what an "account" was. :) Sweet girl!! So, she bought her lunch--cheese nachos--and was SO excited!! It went well, and she said she'd do it again. They have baked potato some days and she wants to buy that--but I told her she'd have to fix it herself. And she said, "You mean I have to cook it!!?" I told her no, she'd have to fix it herself with the butter, cheese and sour cream. She thought for a minute and said, "Well, how about you just have lunch with me that day and you can fix it for me?" :) They also give out samples of things the cafeteria fixes and she's quick to hop in line and get her one. I guess all our trips to Costco have prepared her! Ha!
