Neighborhood Egg Hunt

Our neighborhood had an Easter egg hunt at the park last weekend. The kids were thrilled to hunt for eggs--and extra surprised that there were candy and treats inside! Hudson was enjoying his fruit cup.
Gracyn spotted a pink egg first and made a mad dash for it! She ran back to show me that it was a princess egg and left 3 others that were next to it.
They may not have found many eggs...but there were happy none the less.
Hudson spotted this one on his own.
He was so proud of it! That was one of the kids' problems. They were so excited to show us that they found an egg, that they missed out on others around them.
The afternoon ended with a visit from the Easter Bunny himself!! They were so excited to see him! But, Gracyn forgot to tell him that she really wanted the Wendy doll from Peter Pan and is worried that he won't know. I have a pretty good feeling that he already knows. ;) We may have to go visit him again at the mall though.

Toys???

Why do we even bother buying them toys.....
...when they have this much fun with boxes??! They've been a clubhouse, trains, hideouts, castles...and more. It's perfect that we have 2 big boxes--one for each of them and no fighting!! :)
They are parked in the dining room along with all their cars. I'm hoping they aren't a permanent fixture...but I don't see them parting with them any time soon! ;)

Bear Hunt

Gracyn had been talking about wanting to go on a bear hunt. I'm not quite sure where she came up with that idea, but I thought we'd try it out--and she was THRILLED!! First, she made a map of where we should go to find them. I decided to take them on a trail near our neighborhood that they'd never been on.
They had a blast exploring the tunnels...
Found some pretty pink flowers...
We ended our hunt with a picnic lunch at the park.

SUCH a fun adventure!!No bear sightings, but we did see a deer!! They can't wait to do it again--and bring Daddy along!!

Little Sickies!

I'm SO ready for the weather to stay warm!! All this back and forth and crazy wind has us sick every time I turn around these days!! A few weeks ago, we were ALL sick with sinus infections-and Gracyn also had an ear infection. We got everyone well and as soon as we got back into the swing of things...croup came upon us!! UGH! Poor Gracyn ran fever all day yesterday and into the night. She was a sad little sight!
Hudson's nose was sore from blowing it so much that he wanted a band-aid on it. He walked around with it on his nose for quite a while. He was NOT a happy camper when Daddy pulled it off. I don't think he'll want another one on there....
Gracyn is feeling much better today--I got a little smile out of her....but she still prefers to lay on top of me on the couch. So much for getting laundry done and this house cleaned up....I guess I'll have a productive nap time!!

Gracyn's Camera

I just realized that I never posted this...it's from a while back--hence the Christmas tree in the pictures! Oh well, better late than never, right?! :)

Gracyn is becoming quite the photographer! Here are some of her latest masterpieces...the quality of these pictures is stellar, no doubt! But, she's having fun taking them, so that's all that matters!

Bye, Bye Baby!

I cleaned out all of our baby toys and gear to sell at a local children's consignment sale. Hudson was is heaven with all of the new toys he found!! He was driving me CrAzY as I was trying to get everything cleaned up, batteries checked/changed and everything priced and tagged!! You can tell by all these pictures that he was thoroughly enjoying himself.
He wanted to go for a swing!
He started pushing all the buttons on the exersaucer and all the songs brought back so many memories. I must have heard those songs & sounds about a million times! It made me sad to think about how fast they've grown up.....but not sad enough to want to keep it and do it again. :)

He even climbed up in it...silly boy!
Taking Gracyn's pink trike around for one more spin. He has a red one that we're keeping. Gracyn hasn't been on this in months since she has a big girl bike now...but was devastated that we were getting rid of it. I think her knees even hit the handle bars when she rides it! She was a little worried about what all I was going to sell. She started questioning me about every toy she owned. I kept trying to explain to her that we were only getting rid of the baby toys and things we aren't using anymore. She was pretty worried there for a while.
We're closing the chapter on babies in this house....but we are having so much fun with these two little big kids!! :)

Swim Practice

Every Wednesday afternoon, the kids go to swim lessons...or swim practice as we call it. Gracyn's confidence still far exceeds her ability, but she's getting there.

She LOVES the water and is like a little fish! Most of the time when she's not swimming, she has her head under water.
Hudson on the other hand, is not a fan of swim practice. He was enjoying it, until he had to go under water. Now, he usually cries and wants me to hold him for the whole thirty minutes. It's really pathetic. :( I think we're going to take him out next month and give him a little break. We'll see if he starts enjoying it again once we start spending every day at the pool this summer.
He loves playing with the noodle...
He also likes to go "fishing." He throws the fish out and then has to swim out and pick them up.
But, I think his most favorite part is enjoying his snack while Gracyn is swimming!!

Quiet Time

One morning, we found Gracyn in the office with her Bible. When we asked her what she was doing, she said that she was having her "Quiet Time." It's the same place I sit in the morning when I'm working on my Bible study and having my quiet time. Sweet baby girl....my heart could not be more proud!! She loves her pink little Bible with her name on it that she got at church--but there aren't any pictures and the words are teeny tiny. She retells the Bible stories that she knows like she's reading from her Bible. Precious!
After she left, a little while later Hudson crawled up there too....with his Peter Rabbit book. Maybe he was praying that Peter would escape from Mr. McGregor's garden? :)

I pray that we are instilling in them habits that will last a lifetime and a longing to spend time with their Heavenly Father.

Playing Memory

I have to say that I'm quite enjoying their ages right now and that we can do things ALL together!

We played Memory the other day--and even Hudson got to play!
He didn't last the whole game, but he understood the concept and has a pretty good memory for a 2 year old. It makes my heart so happy to see them playing together and getting along. For 10 minutes anyways... :)

Busted!

Hudson is getting really tall--in fact he can reach up onto the top of the bar. I found this out when I caught him getting into the chocolate covered almonds.
BUSTED!!! When I asked him what he was doing he said, "But Mommy, I dust wanted some "malmons"
And then, about 30 minutes later I found him looking like this?!
He had been eating a black crayon. This kid is a mess!! Literally!!!

Pajama Picnic

The other night before bed, Gracyn set up a picnic in the living room.

Hudson made himself a sandwich and then tried to eat it. We were laughing hysterically!
He thought he was really funny too!
Gracyn was pretty proud of herself for her great idea.
She had to model the new princess nightgown that Meme got her.
Making memories with my sweet family!

Making Messes = Having Fun!!

Hudson loves to help me in the kitchen these days--well, actually they both do. It sure does make the process longer and  A LOT messier, but they have such a great time and are so proud of themselves....how can I say no? Cracking eggs has got to be the most dreaded exciting part--stirring is a close second!
Me & my little helper.
Painting is another all time winner in this house. I think Gracyn said, "This is so much fun!" about a 100 times while she was painting. She could paint ALL day EVERY day!
Hudson also had a great time....we stuck with watercolors for him this time around. Gracyn made a big enough mess for the both of them with the other paints.
He didn't seem to mind. :)
