Spring Break Part 1

We started out our Spring Break by going swimming in the indoor pool at Lifetime on Friday afternoon. I took one for the team....they say that it's a heated indoor pool, but I think our ideas of "heated" differ. ;)  They love going and need to work on their skills, so we splashed around and had some fun!
Meme and Pop came over to test out Drew's new grill with a yummy steak dinner. Hudson enjoyed showing off his new found reading skills!
Gracyn had a sleepover with Ava at Meme and Pop's, so it was just Huddy and us for the evening. We loved every minute of this sweet boy! We spent the next morning cuddled up on the couch since it was a yucky rainy day.
Then we went to eat lunch at McDonald's--the one with the basketball hoop!
The next day we met some friends for lunch and then went to get Finley.
Later that afternoon, we went to the Witte Museum with the Kounses. Now that the girls go to different schools, Gracyn doesn't get to see Piper near enough!
We headed over to play at the park. Gracyn got stung by a bee on her face so we left to come home. Thankfully, she's not allergic to bees....I was so worried on the drive home asking if she could still breathe good and if her throat felt funny. I had her epi pen ready just in case. Since she has so many other allergies, I wouldn't have been surprised, but this was her first bee sting so I had no clue how she'd react. She recovered quickly with some tlc at home.
On Wednesday, we met the Banta's at Fiesta Texas! The kids had a great time together!

Introducing....

Our newest family member.....Finley Herron!!
The kids have been begging to get a fish for a pet...so we finally headed to Petsmart and got a Beta fish. They both agreed on the same one--he's a really pretty turquoise fish. And, they came up with the name Finley....although he's also called "Finny."
They each got to pick out a thing for his bowl. Gracyn gets so exited when he swims through her castle! They compromised on the rocks for his bowl....pink, purple, blue and green. :) Gracyn is better at feeding him. Hudson thinks his food stinks and doesn't want his hands to smell or get dirty. (They could NEVER handle a bigger pet--it would end up being me who took care of everything!)
Hudson took my phone while I was trying to get everything we needed at the store and snapped a few photos while he walked around. Love that kid!
He asked if we could get some hamsters??...ummm--NO!
A pet lizard??....ummmm--NO!
A bunch of fish?? NO! Let's just try and keep ONE alive!
They sure do love him though and are happy to have a new member in our family!

Happenings....

Here's what's been going on....
I love watching this girl's love for reading blossom! She'd just gotten a new book from the book fair at school. The other night I found her in her closet with a pillow and blanket so she could keep reading when it was time for bed.
We had a play date with Ella, Zach and Drew over at the Darter's new house. These kiddos had a blast together! Didn't phase Ella a bit that she was the only girl.
Fun friends!
Sadly, Huddy's basketball season is over. He LOVED playing and can't wait to play again next year. We're on to soccer next! Isn't he the cutest thing with his little headband?! He was really easy to pick out on the court!
Speaking of reading....we found out that this boy can read. I had NO clue! He sat down with me and read Hop on Pop!!! So proud of this little guy! He also got to take the class pet (stuffed animal) home with him. He loved reading to Owliver!
I could watch my babies sleep all night long. Never gets old! (He had Owliver sleeping next to him.)
Still trying to get rid of these cookies....not too many more to go--just glad that we don't have them sitting in our dining room anymore!
Gracyn had dress up days at school last week....this day they were supposed to wear mismatched clothes. She had so much fun picking out her favorite pieces to wear at once. She drew the line at wearing two different shoes though--she just couldn't do it. It was SO hard for me to let her walk out the door looking like this!!

Gracyn's FUN run!

Gracyn had a Fun Run at school to raise money. She got some sponsors...and had to run her laps. She was SO excited! She told me not to bring her a water bottle, because they said she could take a water break whenever she needed it at the water station. She took several.... ;)
It was cold out that morning--kinder ran at 8:00 am!! She had to wear her Elsa hat!!
I was in charge of marking laps on the kids' shirts. Gracyn ran to me for each check...she ran 30 laps! Way to go Gracyn!!
Gracyn and Halle
She had a lot of FUN at her run and I was so glad I got to be there to help out!!! :)

This & That

Here's a little recap of what we've  been up to lately....
Gracyn and her friend, Halle, set up a booth to sell their Girl Scout Cookies.
Cutest little Daisies I ever did see!!
Gracyn celebrated her friend, Ellie, turning six!
 Get it girlie!!
We went to open gymnastics on our day off for President's Day.

When we got home, Gracyn had her two favorite friends from her class, Halle and Aly, over to play.
Gracyn loves to sit in the last seat of the bus! She's also ready for me to go to the bus stop with her again in the mornings. It's just too cold for me!! Daddy takes one for the team every morning and I'm so grateful!! I'll join them again when it warms up. :)

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day came so quick once we got back! Gracyn had to make a box for her class valentines that was due the day after we got home from our trip. We whipped this up....she was pleased!! :)
I'm so glad that we finished up valentines before we left. We had to drop off Hudson's before our trip and he even missed his party.  Poor Hudson thought he didn't get any....good thing Aunt Am picked up his bag and he got it at church that Sunday.
Gracyn was excited to give out hers.
They gave their teachers travel sizes of Bath and Body and hair ties.
Gracyn gave a set of hair ties to her student teacher.
Happy HEART day!!

New Smyrna Beach

We were SO excited to continue our vacation at the beach. A trip to Disney World isn't really a vacation--you're SO exhausted afterwards! So, this part was just what we needed!!
A vacation from our vacation!
This little girl could play in the sand and make sand castles all day, every day!

This guy flew right over us!
Drew and I enjoyed going for runs on the beach. (Love the little photo bomber!!) And I got to read THREE books!!
Hudson loved throwing the football with Daddy.
The water was FREEZING!!
Family pics on the beach. It was really windy and cold!!
We had lunch with our cousins from Orlando. They were so sweet to let us stay at their beach house! Too bad I didn't get a picture of all of us....the kids wanted their picture by this shark.
We ate some yummy food and just enjoyed getting to be with Grandmom and Grandad!!
Silly picture...
Farewell Florida!! It was a great trip!!
Hope to see you again next year!!
